oil recirculating pump is needed

Need oil filtering pump, pump will not pickup oil and put it back in vat

can it be drained while hot??? If not, what will it do to it?? Boss wants to drain while hot and along with safety I have heard other things will happen. Also, pilot lights will not stay lit.
