washer goes through the regular motions until it is ready to drain/spin and then it stops.
The washer goes through the regular motions until it is ready to drain/spin and then it stops.
I propped a screw driver into the slot where the plunger would go and the screwdriver pushes against something & the machine works fine. But if I close the lid without the screwdriver in place, the plunger does not start the machine. A diagram would be very helpful if available. Thanks in advance.

Washer does not agitage, but the motor runs.
If your washer will not agitate, it could be the gear that connects it the motor that has broke. If you're handy you should be able to replace it with parts that are available online for less than $15.
You'll need to disconnect the unit from the wall and flip it so you can see the bottom of the unit. Look for where the agitator connects to the motor and see if it is broke or missing.
