Can You Help With This Problem?

  Oven burner doesn't iginte.
  The SiC heats to a bright yellow/red, but the gas doesn't flow. Bang the top of the stove or turn on the left rear burner and there is occasional success. There must be some kind of thermocouple or relay to prevent gas flow if the igniter isn't functioning. Thanks
