    Want To Help But...

I need a bit more info with regards to what you can't get clean. Which area are you talking about and what does the substance appear to be? I'm certain that with the above information, I can help you get it Squeaky clean!

    Regards,

    Steve

My self-cleaning oven won't clean itself!
When I choose clean oven it tells me to lock the oven. I do but that's as far as it goes. I don't know if the lever for locking the oven isn't going over far enough or what. I bought the oven 2nd hand and did not get an owners manual with it. I submitted my request on 11-22-2008.

  • Latch Switch I Suspect

Greetings again! It sounds like the latch switch has gone out. Not having the owner's manual does indeed suck! I too bought my range/oven second hand. The unit it replaced decided to take a dump the day before Thanksgiving! I found my new-to me Crosley on Craig's List and was able to go and pickit up the night before Thanksgiving and was able to save the day so to speak!
Back to your issue.... The good news is that the latch switch is not specific to this make/model of units. I have been able to discern from the searches I ahve done that many of the parts inside the unit are Frigidaire - MANY! Best thing to do is call your local discount appliance parts shop and tell them your situation. He'll ask you for the make/model number and will cross reference the part which will most likely be readily available. If you are unable to find the exact part, let me know, and I'll help you out. There are 2 HUGE discount appliance parts companies here in PHX whose prices are super low when compared to say sears Parts, or the like.

  • Self cleaning oven

Hi. Thanks! So how difficult will this be for me to fix myself? I am a little challaged in that area but would try if it is at all feasible.

  • Not Difficult To Repair Rourself

I'll have to look to be certain, but on other units I've worked on, it's a piece of cake to access and replace that particular part. There is an access panel at the top-back of the unit which is held in place by a couple of screws. It's just a matter of pulling that panel off, identifying the switch in question, (don't worry, I'll do that part for you) and make the swap. If you've got a screwdriver and are able to pull the unit out from the wall enough to get behind it...... you're 95% done. Let me take a look at mine and ID the switch and its whereabouts and I'll get back to you later today if not tomorrow.
