on Amana Refrigerator
Broke and Then Recovered
Hello,
This model of Amana started producing an intermittent, yet loud, humming noise last week. After about a day or so, the fridge stopped cooling altogether. After finding out that the landlord's repairman wasn't going to be able to make it last week, we unplugged it because the noise had become too annoying. Today, the repairman came by and just by plugging it in, the unit started to work again without noise or annoyance. The unit is 6 years-old, so it should still be in good working order. I asked the repairman if anything was done to fix it by him and he said no. I asked him if the lack of space/ventilation around the unit could have caused it to overheat which could have caused the motor to work too hard, thus needing a few days off to recover. I'm not interested in this reoccurring so I'm wondering if I should be creating more space by moving the fridge away from the wall or if there is anything else that someone can recommend, I'm interested. I'm no expert (clearly) so thanks to whoever has any advice on the subject.
