• Unit will not shut off
  
  
  It needs to be turned off by the power supply. The only way it turns off is when the motor gets too hot and shuts itelf off. I was told to replace the unit as it will be cheaper than getting fixed.

• My Insinkerator 17 garbage disposal won't shut off either
  
  
  My disposal mostly won't turn off after I remove the handle. Really dangerous until I can run down the hall and hit the breaker switch. Can the switch be repaired or cleaned and lubricated--or does the whole unit need to be replaced? This has been going on for over a month.
