coffe maker won't brew

when i turn the power on the heat plate under the pot does not heat up and it does not brew the coffee. after about 3 seconds it beeps as if it is done brewing. what could be the problem?

    I have the same problem, exactly! any solution out there? I've tried to take it apart but didn't want to go too far before looking for suggestions.

  • Thermostat open

    One of the most common problems affecting this and many other coffee makers is an open high-limit thermal switch. These bi-metal switches will close and create a connection for power to the heating element and open when the temperature reaches its limit. This is why manufacturers specify cold water to fill the reservoir.
