kenmore side by side - strip between freezer and f...

kenmore side by side - strip between freezer and fridge is HOT. Why is that? Seems to be cooling ok, but we had a power outage for 3 days and when I plugged it back in it turned on and began cooling and making ice... but that strip of metal between the two doors is hot after 30 minutes of plugging it in.
