Westinghouse frost free 520 ltr -10 or12 years old

Fridge worked fine for awhile, until uninsulated fridge pipes at back and freezer compartment starting freezing/frosting up-Ice cream is soft and does not keep everything as cold.Fridge seems to be on all the time. Could be a thermostat or defrost timer?
Anyone know? Are they easy to change? Mod No# RJ-522K-R
