
How to hardwire the Olympus D-390 Digital Camera
(External battery method)

This document covers in detail how to modify the Olympus D-390 Digital Camera so that the
shutter can be controlled remotely. Use the standard RSP PIC chip with this method. Please
note that if you make this modification to your Olympus camera that you will void your
camera’s warranty. This modification can also result in damage to your digital camera if
you do not follow the instructions properly.
Tools Needed
1. 2.4 mm #0 Philips Screwdriver & Small Flat Blade Screwdriver.
Remove the camera covers
The first step is to remove the back
cover of the D-390. This is easily done
by removing the 8 small Philips screws
from the case.
Be sure to remove the xD Media card
and batteries before removing the
case.
Camera control contact points
These are the contact points to control
the camera shutter and refresh
controls. These contact points are
much smaller than the D-370 or D-
380, so you have to be careful when
soldering wires to these points.
