Product Problem: inserting the batteries

I cannot figure out how to open the handle to insert the batteries. The instruction booklet is no help and even the pictures showing how to open the compartment don't look like my unit (which is a 9900 model). Please help.

Don't buy it. $120 and it stopps working in a year. If you do, keep your reciept. However, check the internet. Braun has problems. They change the name and keep selling the same junk.

My dauther has 2 different temp, une high one normal in rigth ear is usually high and in left ear is normal. I'm using the high, is that correct ?

We have a problem with our Braun 6023 thermometer. The Start button jams on, and will not release and goes to the set menu where F and C scales can be selected. A great thermometer that is useless because of this defect. We cannot take temperatures as a result. Eventually the unit turns itself off. This is a fault that might be tolerated if the thermometer was a $20 job from China. NOT from a $120 product from Germany!
