Call the product line at 1-800-327-7226 (option 4). You have to wait until the thermometer turns off then press the start button and hold it until you see the 'C' or 'F'. Once you see it, press the start button again to toggle between the two to get the reading you want. The recorded instructions on the 1-800 line were helpful.			</description>
