Oven cycle remains on after oven is turned off? I...

Oven cycle remains on after oven is turned off? I had two pans burned and smoke filled my kitchen. Not sure why. It turned a glass pan almost black and it burned a whole through a silicone pan I had transferred the roast to from the glass one.
