5 Hi Sbrooks7251! Congratulations on your brand new Coffee Maker! In order to set it up you will have to follow this ordered steps, and you will be ready to go (with a good cup of coffee in your hands!) 1 Wash the pot in warm, soapy water; rinse thoroughly; allow it to dry completely. 2 Insert the brew-basket in the swing out compartment on the top of the coffee maker. Place one paper coffee filter in the basket. If equipped, remove the filter packet from its pouch and clip it into the plastic holder. Insert the holder into the filter hole in the bottom of the water reservoir. 3 Fill the carafe with clean, cold water and pour it into the reservoir. Put the carafe on the brewing station, and then press the "Brew" or "On" button on the coffee maker. Wait for all the water to brew through the coffee pot, and then discard the water and filter. 4 Press the "Hour" button on the clock until you have the correct hour set (the dot in the corner indicates "PM" hours). Press the "Minute" button until you have the correct minute set. Press "Program" to set the time for the coffee pot to come on automatically. Press "Hour" to set the hour and "Minute" to set the minute. Press "Auto On" to set the program. 5 Place 1 tbsp. medium ground coffee for every 6 oz. of water in a paper coffee filter. Each cup marking on the carafe is equal to 6 oz. of water, so for a full 12-cup pot you would place 12 tbsp. of ground coffee in the filter. Fill the carafe with water and then pour the water into the reservoir. Place the filter in the brew basket and close the basket door. Place the pot under the basket and press "Brew" or "On" to begin brewing coffee. Press "Auto On" to engage a program to brew the coffee later.
