My husband bought me a Black and Decker mini fridge last September for my birthday. It has only been a year, and it has stopped working. It is no longer keeping food cold. I'd really hate to buy a new one since I just got this one. Any suggestions?

5 You need to replace one or both of the Peltier cooler chips. If you are reasonably hand with a screw driver, wire cutter and wire nuts -- it is a 30-45 minute job. You will need: one or two TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler 12 Volt 92 Watt from Amazon. (~$9.00 each) One or two tubes of Artic Silver paste from Amazon ( ~ $9.00 each ) . Run for 10 minutes, Remove the back panel screws. Feel which heat sink is NOT warm. That one contains your bad chip. Remove screws, pull heatsink and chip. Cut 2 wire that go that chip. Pull heatsink and chip. Clean Heat sink. Put Artic silver on heat sink and chip. Attach wires with wire nuts, reinstall. If heat sink now gets real cold instead of hot, reverse wires in wire nuts.
