Question About Black & Decker Rice Cooker RC400/RC500
lost measuring scoop...

I do not have the measuring scoop, so I don't know how much rice to add per 3,4,5,6, and 7 marks of water. Can you help me? This is for the RC400 cooker.

5 The 1 c. rice = 5 1/2 ounces is wrong. I just weighed 1 cup of rice and it was 6.85 ounces. Your best bet is to do what I do. I bought a scale and measured 5 1/2 ounces for every level number. For example, 7 scoops would equal 38.5 ounces by weight or (7x5.5). The rice cooker works according to weight so measurements need to be in weight. I called them when I first bought mine at Walmart because my kids, very unfortunately, threw it out when they did the dishes on the first day of use. Go figure.

3 Use a liquid measuring cup to measure rice; 1 c. rice = 5 1/2 oz. The water levels indicate number of cups being cooked. Example: Add 3 cups rice (at 5 1/2 oz. each) to liner, then fill to level 3 with water.

1 Since the manual called for 5.5 oz. I used my scale to measure 5.5 oz of rice. Then I poured the rice into a small plastic cup and marked a line at the rivers level. Now I can always use that cup. For those of you that don't have a food scale.. I also poured the rice into a one cup measurer and it came to just a little more then 3/4 of a cup.  So that works too.

0 I purchased this cooker at a yard sale and it didn't come with the measuring scoop. Is it possible to use a standard measuring cup to measure the rice and if so how much do I use for each water level mark, Thanks.

0 No, it was not useful. Had there been an answer to the questions, it would have surely helped, as my question is the same; how to compare the amount from the lost rice scoop to a standard measuring cup.

0 I'm trying to find an answer to the same question. The provided measuring cup is NOT a cup measure. Does anyone know how much one of these cups contains. The answer is not one 8oz. cup. Thank you.

0 I did the math and it looks like the scoop was 2/3 cup per line so if I'm correct 1-2/3c 2- 1 1/3 and so on testing my theory now i hope this helps someone
