2 Assuming that the heating pipe has a leak, the unit would then be short of gas, and run continualy and eventualy not cool at all. Feel the black pipes at the rear LHS, if it is nice and hot/warm then this is not the problem. The purpose of this pipe is to stop condensation forming around the freezer door gasket area which is unsightly and colud lead to freezing shut.

1 I have the same problem, it is caused by the freezer not defrosting and freezing up. The cause is either PC panel or defrost element but don't know which ?

1 The problem with the freezer section of the Defy F640 is that the heating pipes running alongside the fridge side rust through. It can be bypassed. A technician is however required. To make sure remove the polistireen seperating and protecting the two pipes. You will see the rust and feel an oily substance leaking. My fridge is now working 100% after being bypassed. The purpose of the heating is to ensure door does not freeze shut if door is not used for a couple of months. Why would you not open the door for so long. Hope this helps.
