I recently bought an Electrolux electric cooktop to replace my old one at my house. Here is the situation From the house I have a white, black and copper wire. The old cooktop had a red, black and copper wire They connected as follows….black to black, copper to copper and white to red The Electrolux has 4 wires red, black, white, and green Based on what I have read (and the directions which are not clear) – I think I should connect black to black, white (from the house to red on the stove), green to copper and cap off the white The directions say “you can not ground the cook through the neural (white) wire if the new branch circuit installation (1996 NEC)?
