Trying to fix a 12 cup Faberware coffee maker. Pl...

Trying to fix a 12 cup Faberware coffee maker. Plug it in and not getting any percolating from pot. Not sure if its the thermostat or heating element. Please advise. Really don't want to throw it out. Do have the thermostat off but not sure how to remove the element.
