The ice maker stopped working. I reduced the temperature in the freezer; I turned off the icemaker for several hours and then turned it back on: no change. The water is still flowing to the water dispenser so the line is not kinked or filter clogged.

5 There is a plastic retainer part that is clipped to the underside of the tray that you can carefully pop off. You'll find it utilizes a foam pad that helps keep the sensor snug between the ice cube squares. The sensor is seated between the cubes in two notches. With the retainer removed you'll find the sensor easily comes out. The sensor wire is very thin and not very long, so unless you plan on extending the wire... you'll run out of the required slack after a mistake or two stripping the insulation away too aggressively. Take care.

4 Take the ice bin out and look for the white wire hanging from the ice tray. This poor piece of product design is a a common culprit of ice maker failure on Fisher & Paykel fridges. If it's a problem with this wire to the sensor, it will look as if someone has purposely tried to snip it. The continuous flexing of the unharnessed wire hitting the ice bin (as you roll the bin in and out) breaks it.

4 It's Marko again. Don't buy a new sensor bhitchcock. I've soldered the wires back together myself and corrected the design fault by fastening the wire clear of the tray to avoid future breakage. I recommend you do the same.

4 i had the ice maker fixed under warranty , and the sensor to the ice tray was replaced cause its wire had broken from the flexing of it. around $30 apparently

3 I have the same problem. I have tried the same tactics to stimulate the ice maker to start again (the water continues to flow freely through the door). I don't have a solution to get it to start working.

3 Brilliant. All sorted. I also noticed that the sensor actually has a 2nd spot it can be mounted - between the ice cube trays closer to the freezer door. This is handy as the plastic retainer then sits directly under the sensor and there is less excess wiring to.grt jammed by the freezer drawer when it is pushed back in. Thanks again!!

0 great. I'll give it a go tonight. Did toy remove the unit from the freezer before soldering? I assume there is some sort of clip for the tray to be removed?

0 I changed the filter then turned off the frig to see if the ice is blocking something. I am still waiting. There is no code that indicates the sensor is bad
 Still waiting.

0 My (sensor) plastic retainer was blocking the ice tray from sliding out. Tried to flattened it out a few times (was boomerang shape) but it finally fell off. Now ice tray can move freely but wondering if the sensor can fell out of its position underneath the ice tray now?  I guess it only holds with the foam pad…
Will that hold over time you guys think?
Can I buy only the plastic retainer part?
