How do I do the self cleaning oven function? When...

How do I do the self cleaning oven function? When I turn both knobs to 'clean' the door doesn't lock and there's no bar to slide over to lock the door manually nor is there a separate button to push to get the door to lock. I assume that, because the door won't lock, the self clean cycle won't start.
