Question About Gary Fisher Kitchen Entertainment Center Axiom Cycling Computer

I have an older Gary Fisher Axiom bicycle speedometer. I put an everready 301/386 battery in it, it fit just fine & worked great for one day and then the brand new battery wouldn't work in it any more. What battery is it supposed to take. The newer version of the speedometer takes a CR3020 but that won't fit in this model. Please advise.
