Cannot turn off dishwasher without resorting to ci...

Cannot turn off dishwasher without resorting to circuit panel switch. Only using Normal Wash. Don't want the green light of control panel to stay on when done using. Have no user manual. Handyman did not solve problem. Please clue me in.
