dishwasher will not start start button flashes sometimes timer comes on and counts dfown but does not turn on

5 Sounds like you may have a relay that's not kicking in. The timer counts down, sends it's signal but nothing happens. So the next part would be the relay that's supposed to tell the machine to work. Unfortunately you will probably need professional repair, but I wouldn't get the phone book out just yet. Plenty of people on Craigslist need work, and I'm sure you could find someone on there to come fix it for really cheap. Or post your own Craigslist add for someone to come fix it, you will get plenty of responses if your in an area with a decent population.
