how do i reset the dishwasher cycle to insure the ...

how do i reset the dishwasher cycle to insure the heater coil in the bottom of th eunit is heating the water correctly?????? it get hot but at the wrong time, it is dry cycle, when top coil is hot and not when the water heat is needed. temps is 100 degrees max
