5 The disposal should've come with and Allen type wrench. You insert the wrench underneath the disposal and turn it side to side and it will usually dislodge the item. The wrench hole for Allen wrench is in the center of the bottom of the unit. then you need to shut off the power to remove the problematic item by hand if it is metal, or similar item, that is causing the jam.
