Our GE JSP26 model range / oven randomly flashes F...

Our GE JSP26 model range / oven randomly flashes F2 and must be reset via the breaker turned off and on. GE services say F2 means the range has found an over temperature condition. Is this the fault of the controller or some safety sensor? What do these parts cost?
