how do i clean or change the little filter at the ...

how do i clean or change the little filter at the dispenser tap on model 48464c. it is corroded and leaks. i re3moved the 2 screws to adjust something i guess but there w2as a spring and i can't find how to assemble it. i don't want to throw this unit out. help before i gets smacked up the side of the head for attempting to repair.
