I have a 6 qt Hamilton Beach Crock Watcher Model#4...

I have a 6 qt Hamilton Beach Crock Watcher Model#417-1 175-350 Watts w/ Low-High & Auto shift setting on it and can't find the manual on line! Help! What does the Auto shift setting do and how do I get a manual?

5 The "Auto-Shift" puts this unit on HIGH for about 2 - 3 hours (I forget the exact.) It then shifts to LOW after that time. The HIGH setting just keeps it on HIGH; which can generate a lot of heat. You can effectively cook stuff just starting out totally on LOW; but you only want a few hours or so on HIGH; You can keep stuff cooking and quite hot, and not drying out for over a day on LOW. But the auto-shift just shifts from HIGH to LOW after a few hours.

0 From the manual: the auto shift from high to low occurs at 1 ¾ hours. Note that the control knob will not shift position, but will remain at Auto.
