Our 22559 toaster's doneness control shows a colored in slice on the left side of the dial and an uncolored slice on the right side. This is the opposite of the illustration in the manual. I've always assumed that the left setting (counter-clockwise) is lightest and the right setting (clockwise) is darkest. My wife thinks the opposite. She thinks the slice illustration that is colored in indicates the most toasted. Can you clear this up for us? I've downloaded the manual, but it doesn't give a clear answer.
