6 I just picked one up at my local Salvation Army, in box, complete with the steam tray for veggies, original styrofoam packaging and a sales/display tag, and of course the instruction manual in English and Spanish. It's only missing the "plastic" cup mentioned in the below directions. It gives an overview of features, a recipe/direction for "perfect rice", explains the warming feature, and has suggested cooking times for steaming vegetables. "To Cook Perfect Steamed Rice... "1)Spray the inner pan with Pam of similar product. 2)Fill the plastic cup that comes with your cooker to the brim with raw rice... each plastic cup of raw rice makes two standard (8oz/250mL) measuring cups of cooked rice -- enough for four half-cup servings. 3)Put the rice in a strainer and place it under cold water until the water coming out of the bottom runs clear. Place the inner pot into the main body of the cooker and add the washed rice. 4) Pour enough cold water on top of the washed rice to fill the inner pot up to the appropriate water line. For instance, if you put in four plastic cups of raw rice, fill the inner pot with water to the -4- line... 5)Put on the lid, plug [the appropriate sides of the plug into the appliance and then the wall] and flip the switch on and push the COOK-WARM switch down. That's all there is to it. The cooker takes care of the rest - automatically. IMPORTANT: Don't stir the rice. Don't even lift the lid . When the chime sounds, wait 15 minutes to open the lid. This gives the rice a chance to steam, a vital part of the cooking process. Once you do open the lid, give the rice a stir. Notice how every grain is perfect. Notice also that the bottom of the inner pan will have a paper thin, light brown crust of cooked rice, which helps enhance the flavor of all the rice above it." The instructions also include helpful hints, where it says for brown rice use 2 1/2 cups of water for each cup of washed brown rice.

5 The plastic cup is equivalent to one cup. It is marked in 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 cup, 2/3 and 3/4 increments, with to the top being a full cup. Hope this helps.

0 > Any idea where I could find a replacement inner pot? Ha-ha I haven't worn a hole in my inner-pot yet, but I wish there were replacements. Oh well, it's a disposable society, which includes everything therein. Now, where did I put my lithium...

0 Oh, our usual recipe is 2 cups rinsed rice, 3 cups water, big glug of vegetable oil, quarter stick of butter, 3 or 4 tbs. of salt. Married into a family with salt and carb addictions. Trying to wean the family off salt; lots more work to do. Cutting down on carbs? It will take more than a lifetime.
