Hi, The drain pump on my Hoover hds555 M-80 wont stop pumping. If I try to run a was cycle I can here the water being let into the machine but the drain pump, pumps it out immediately. A constant flow of water is pumped out. If I place the program into the stop position the inlet flow stops but the pump still runs even when the machine is dry. It is not a problem with the outlet hose being too low etc as Ive disconnected it from the sink outlet to test. It seems to me that the machine thinks there is water in the dishwasher and is trying to remove it. Water level switch fault perhaps? Question. Where is the sensor switch for this model? I cant find a repair model any where. Thanks Alan.

0 We are also having problems with this model of DW.... and we had the same problems a year ago(when it was still under gaurantee!!!) the engineer said then that because we had been using a whole tablet in the wash, it was creating too much detergent and the drain pump was blocked....(I had also tried to remove the drain pump to check it and then it wouldnt fit back properly, water drained out of underside of machine when moved )when all water was drained , it has worked ok until now!!1....it sounds as though its either unable to fill properly and will not move through the wash cycle...I dont know if this is because the sump(to which there is ref to in manual but there is nothing in DW which resembles this or is easily accesible!!) is blocked or what....we have drained all water from unit( from drain hose and water also seems to leak from underside of machine as before......I dont know what the problem is and the 'trouble shooting guide' in the manual isnt much help either!!! HELP!

0 Thanks for the reply moretonsplace, Regarding your comment. 1....it sounds as though its either unable to fill properly and will not move through the wash cycle...I don't know if this is because the sump(to which there is ref to in manual but there is nothing in DW which resembles this or is easily accessible!!) is blocked or what.) Ive got to agree. The user manual does show the pump and suggests its cleaning. But even with the sides of the DW off, you need the hands of a 3 year old to work on it!! VERY INACCESSIBLE! I also phoned a repair man and he said it sounded like the programmer, and it would cost £100+ to replace, so would be cheaper (or near enough)to buy a new DW! But I cant understand how detergent/tablet can block the pump as its got to go through the 3 removable filters first????? So, I have nothing to loose. I'll try to remove the pump with my large hands. And hope to get the clips back in place. But may try the old and often successful remedy 1st......A few taps on various components with a hammer!!

0 Well, Ive tried the above. No blockage in the pump. Found what I think was the over fill switch and disconnected that = still pumping. It sounds more and more like a controller malfunction and I'm not prepared to replace that. Looks like it will have to be a new DW and it won't be a Hoover!!!!!

0 the flood switch in the bottom try is made eitheer you have a small leak or the switch is permenantly made. Its the switch with the small piece of foam attached near the front centre of the bottom tray.

0 Remove right hand side panel and you will notice a clear plastic tube running from a black switch to the filter housing. Pull tube of the switch and try blowing and sucking on the switch, doing this you will hear the switch clicking. This will probably cure the problem as it can get stuck. Failing that it's a new switch.
