I have a hotpoing HSS251FMDWW side by side that is icing up around the ice and water dispenser. When I set iut ti disoense cubes, most of what comes out is crushed. I have noticed that the black rubber gasket does no fully reseat itself allowing warm air to constantly enter the ice maker compartment. I assume this is at least partly the cause of the icing around the dispenser. My question is what do I do about it? I don't see any obvious way of disassembling the door pass through to check this unit. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

5 I have had this problem for years. Flapper does not close. I will never buy a hotpoint brand again. poor construction and quality. Am ready to glue ice dispenser closed. Any suggestions would be helpful.

3 The problem is in the defective platings on the solenoid behind the ice/water controls, in the freezer door. This was one of several issues of a major class action suit GE lost, but where the time is long since past to claim damages or replacement products. The same defects were present in high and low end models. Replacing the solenoid isn't difficult, but holding GE liable for their know defective parts choice might be at this time.
