5 A suitcase nuke to the GE Boardroom might be useful, as this line of refrigerators has already been subject to one massive class action suit, in which GE weaseled on honoring terms requiring them to replace units with defective freezer door and icemaker designs or construction. Is GE really so arrogant they need to be sued again? Opening the icemaker controls is easy, and requires popping up a couple of tabs under the control panel, and then removing visible screws. That's irrelevant though, if the problem is the known issue of a service bulletin issued October 2007 affecting all metal liner SxS production built January 2003 through January 2007 (serial numbers AF through AM): Models BSS, DSS, ESH, GSH, GSS, GST, HSS, SSS. That bulletin suggests heater kit WR49X10173 be installed to melt ice in defective tubing rooting doors or defective insulation doors that absorb water and freeze internally, increasing wasted energy use, as opposed to GE simply offering replacement non-defective appliances to customers on whom they foisted hundreds of thousands of defective products. Any lawyers with a large enough staff to handle a few hundred thousand class action clients want to help hold GE accountable for cutrate design and production? Information on other sites suggests GE likes to charge its victims $250-300 per defective frig to add heaters to freezers. The 10-07 service bulletin amounts to evidence that GE knows 4-5 years of refrigerator production over 8 families of products is known to be defective. They claim that information to be proprietary, and not information they want the public to know they know, especially if disclosed to class action lawyers or used as litigation evidence.
