i have an FR 1082. What does the little on/off ...

i have an FR 1082. What does the little on/off switch do that is on the interior lamp. it doesn't control the light as that is controlled by the door. Does if have anything to do with the humidity? i'm confused. the manual says NOTHING about it. thanks, Brad
