Question About Indesit Dishwasher DI 620

dishes on the upper tray feel gritty at the end of the wash. Dishes in bottom tray ok The water supply pipe for the upper spray arm does not appear to be fitting into the recess on the back wall of the dishwasher so I suspect that the spray arm is being inadequately feed with rinse water. Could I be correct & if so, how do I solve the problem ?
