down draft vent motor has stopped running. Heard ...

down draft vent motor has stopped running. Heard a popping sound and smelled electrical burn and vent motor stopped working. Does electrical supply have fuse or breaker between vent controller and blower motor? How do I trouble shoot to determine if motor is bad or other component has failed?
