How do I seal the first open end to begin the vacuum process?

0 Lay the vacuum bag smooth side up over the seal tape and against front of lower gasket (not over) close upper lid , if it locks-lock it down. other wise hold it down set the machine to vacuum and seal (this will pull the lid tight to the bag) let the machine do its thing till finished and you should have created a seal on that end.
