my 5 quart kenmore mixer is acting strange,,,as so...

my 5 quart kenmore mixer is acting strange,,,as soon as I plug it in the mixer starts to work even when the paddle is up in the air. Sometimes I plug it it and turn to 1 AND it would not work. Very dangerous situation. Somedays it just starts by itself if plugged in. What can I do to fix it?
