2 In the past I owned a Kenmore stove that the top locked when we had a power failure. On the model I owned, on the top panel where you had your clock, oven temp, etc. it showed a small picture of the top (perhaps four dots). Press and hold the "button" related to the picture. If the range is set up the same, the top should unlock. The unit I had also had the capability of locking the oven, which was locked and unlocked the same method only with the indicator for the oven lock.
