My Kenmore Coldspot Model # 106.79172990 (not a side-by-side and I cannot locate a user manual for this model number) is leaking water from the middle of the top into the refrigerator. It is dripping about a pint and a half per day. I cannot locate the drip tray or the pipe leading to it to check if it is blocked. I hope you can help.

0 I have the same model, and it did the same thing to me several years ago. I had to take the freezer panels out and get to the big block of ice that had built up in the freezer behind the back wall. The problem is the freezer will not self defrost all the way, and over time it just keeps building ice. Not sure why it develops this problem after years of service. There is a heater coil back there that is supposed to help defrost the ice. There is a simple trick a repairman told me about that fixed it. Once you defrost the ice out of it, including the tube that drains down the back to the drip pan, then wrap a copper wire around the heater coil and run it down the tube a few inches. The copper is really good at transferring heat from the coil down the tube where the ice keeps building up. Just use a bare copper wire from standard romex type house wire (12 or 14 gauge). I haven't had a leak or ice build up since. Hope it helps.
