Our 5 year old KitchenAid dishwasher has the following symptoms: 1. It takes up to 2 hours to finish a load that used to take 1 h. The timer usually says 90 min. at the start, but it actually takes 2 hours. When it was new, it always took about 1 hour on the normal setting. 2) At the beginning of a run, it will often stop about once a minute for 15 sec. over a period of 10 min. This alone does not explain the extra time needed. 3) It has recently begun to make a high pitched whine when running. The quality of the washing is still good and there are no other obvious symptoms like standing water, delayed filling, etc. Can anyone suggest the culprit here? Our extended warranty just expired of course.
