The hold button is lit up, but when I push cancel ...

The hold button is lit up, but when I push cancel the child lock light flashes. I tried killing power to reset but that didn't work. I tried holding the button that the manual said for 4 seconds and still no luck. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?
