Question About KitchenAid Toaster KTT460WH0
1 slot toaster - opening up the plastic shell...

I'm having trouble with the toast lowering mechanism - it's getting more and more difficult to push it down. Removed the screws on the bottom and the shade control handle, but can't get the plastic cover to separate from the base. Help!
