Question About KitchenAid Trash Compactor 9871915B
KitchenAid 9871915...

I don't think that our compactor is turning off. It goes down, comes up and starts making a banging noise. It will not go off unless you open it

0 If you compactor will not turn off at the end of the cycle and makes a loud thumping sound then either your top limit switch is not opening or your start switch is stuck closed. First make sure your momemtary start switch/actuator is not stuck closed. Wiggle or tap the start switch to see if it stops, is so then you need a new start switch. If start switch is ok then have the top limit switch changed. The top limit is located behind the console mounted to the frame and has 5 wires going to it.
