3 The design of the food processor requires the user to completely assemble it so there's no danger of accidentally hitting a button and setting the blades moving without the cover on. You'll notice a notch on the white handle of the base. When the processor is all together, slide the notch so it pushes the spring in the handle, the processor will drop into place.
