i have a very old krups coffee grinders model 223 . i need to know what the different grind number mean. it goes from 0 to 12

3 The 0 to 12 is a wind up timer that produces coffee that is approximately right for the number of cups of brewed coffee. The grind is controlled by the ball knob that has 6 indents of progressively larger size. The smallest sizes (1) produces a very fine grind suitable for espresso. The large size grinds are suitable for French press. The mid size grinds are suitable for drip coffee and most automatic coffee machines. The ball rotates in a continuous manner, so you are able to fine tune the grind size.
