The inner light has gone out and there seems to be no way to replace it.

Unfortunately LG Australia want $40 for the part. :-( http://www.lgspares.com.au/index.php?cPath=24759_24764_25324 If you are in Australia, you should be able to get a replacement lamp for about $10 from WES Components. Check out section 10 of their catalogue: http://www.wagner.net.au/catalogue/index.htm Either CL827 or CL828 may fit.
