Ice maker is jammed, motor turns but no ice comes ...

Ice maker is jammed, motor turns but no ice comes out, has a front tab to supposedly open access but does not wor- don't know if I'm pulling hard enough- Has done it before and my wife just knocled the **** out it and it started dispensing ice. I'm not as violent as her.
