5 Let me start off, I understand all the hoops you have had to jump through to to get your information. After breezing through the manuals, I noticed it was not notated there. My only suggestion was this long bit of information on Maytag Filters which was on their page. This details all of their filters and the first one is a side by side like your fridge. I would start with it. I'll include the url for the info as well. http://www.maytag.com/product-help/changing-/-replacing-your-water-filter---animations/PH5220/ Filter 1 (Side by Side Refrigerator) -picture included Lift open the filter cover door. The filter will be released and then eject as the door is opened. When the door is completely open, pull the filter straight out. NOTE: there may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills Take the new filter out of its packaging and remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed. With the arrow pointing up, align the new filter with the filter housing and slide it into place. The filter cover door will automatically begin to close as the new filter is inserted. Close the filter cover door completely in order to snap the filter in place. You may need to press hard. Flush the water system until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed. If you are having difficulties removing your filter please see "Difficulties removing filter" Push Button Filter Push the eject button, then pull the filter cap. Do not twist cap. Remove the filter cap by turning it counter clockwise. Set aside cap. Discard old filter. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter. Align arrows on the cap and new filter. Turn clockwise to snap in place. Push filter into the base grill until the eject button pops. Gently tug on cap to ensure it is snug. Flush the water system until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed If you are having difficulties removing your filter please see "Difficulties removing filter" Bottom Freezer / French Door Filter Locate the filter in the upper right corner of the fresh food compartment. There are two cover types: PUSH or PULL. If the word PUSH isn't on the cover, it's a PULL To open PUSH cover: push the tab in and down. To open PULL cover: pull forward gently. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it releases. Drain water from old filter in sink and discard. Remove the packaging and sealing label from the new filter. Insert filter by gently rotating clockwise until it stops. Snap filter door closed Flush the water system until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed. If you are having difficulties removing your filter please see "Difficulties removing filter" Quarter Turn Filter Rotate the cap counterclockwise to a vertical position, then pull. Remove the filter cap by sliding it right or left. Set aside cap. Discard old filter. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter. Slide the filter cap back onto the end. Align the ridge on the filter with the ridge on the cap to make certain it is centered. Hold the assembled cap and filter unit with the handle in the vertical position and push the new filter cartridge into the opening of the base grille until it stops. Rotate the cartridge cap clockwise to a horizontal position Flush the water system until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed.
